The story of Great Britain — told through coins.
In 1946, part way through George VI’s reign, silver was needed to repay the bullion lent to Britain by the US for the war effort, so the Royal Mint ceased minting in silver and began to use copper-nickel instead. But before then, all coins worth 3d or more contained at least 50% silver. Before 1920, they were all minted in .925 silver!

Every coin in the collection has its own character and story, from the threepenny bit to the half crown. All are steeped in the nostalgia of an era that is now part of Great Britain’s history. Since the 17th century, all coins have featured a profile of the monarch’s head. The coins in this collection feature the portraits of four different monarchs: Victoria (1837-1901), Edward VII (1901-1910), George V (1910-1936) and George VI (1936-1952). Perhaps the most beautiful coin in the collection is the Edward VII florin. Minted in 92.5% silver, this coin bears an image of Britannia standing on the shore with trident in hand. It is the only circulating British coin to bear this iconic image.

You will receive two coins every other month, but pay for only one coin per month. The price is subject to possible adjustment only if needed for unusual market conditions.
