Celebrating the Inca Empire…in 22kt gold!
The ancient Inca civilization in Peru was defined by its worship of GOLD, which they believed was a gift from the sun god. Gold objects filled the temples, embodying the empire’s incredible wealth and power — and although the Inca Empire disappeared more than 400 years ago in the late 1500s, the Inca legacy still survives and is more revered now than ever before.
To do justice to the Inca which is the cornerstone of their culture a stunning 22kt gold coin was issued by Peru from 1906 to 1969. Minted in the heart of the ancient Inca Empire, the coin has been out of issue for more than half a century. As a result, it was hard to find the 1/5 Libra gold coin even in Peru in the years when it was minted. To make matters worse, significant quantities were damaged in circulation and melted to recover the precious gold over the past century, leaving relatively few for today’s collectors and historians. Amazingly, this coin is offered in superb uncirculated condition. A rarely seen icon of the Inca Empire, it is as rich in ancient history and culture as it is in coveted gold and is increasingly hard to find today.
Presenting Gold Coin of the Inca, Peru’s historic 22kt solid gold coin celebrating the ancient Inca Empire and Peru’s rich history. This stunning coin is presented in original uncirculated condition and comes complete with a deluxe wooden display case and an informative Fact Card.
